The Yorkshire and Humberside Region of the TVR Car Club is the oldest Region in continued existence. It is run by Ian Bannister and assisted by Ed Down. We've peiced together the Region's history below from old wives tales and old copies of Sprint, so if you know different, let us know.

The Yorkshire TVR Car Club Region was set up in 1976, by Regional Organiser John Dobson and use to meet at the Black Horse in Asquith. They moved briefly to the Brown Cow in Bingley in early 1980; followed later in the year by a move to the Black Swan at Peasholme Green, near York, when Phil Oldroyd became the RO. At this point in time the Region was called East Yorkshire.

In 1983 Tony Abrams (now owner of Hexham Horseless Carriages) became RO and meetings moved to the Bay Horse at Murton. Eric Suddaby took over in 1985 and the meetings moved first to The Fox at Poppleton and then when Simon Lindley became joint-RO in 1988, to The Sun at Colton. The Region remained a fixture at this pub until 1994, although there were several RO changes: Simon and Ann Lunn 1989; Jim and Nicky Overend 1990 (parts and sales managers at Harrogate Horseless Carriages); Martin Shaw 1991; and Jim Overend again in 1992. The biggest change however, was in April 1990 when the Region changed its name to Yorkshire and Humberside.

In 1993 Tony Abrams returned for a second stint as RO and the Region moved to The Ship Inn at Aldborough in 1994. In 1996 Ian Bannister became the latest RO and moved the Region to its present location at Esholt.

Member’s cars currently range from a 1962 Grantura Series III through to the latest Tuscan II and Sagaris. Amongst the regulars, we’ve got: serial car restorers, veteran sprinters, circuit racers, keen track dayers, cruisers, modders and a car dealer, so whatever your interest in TVR, there’s bound to be somebody to talk to or something to look at!
